The Water Smart Gardens and Homes rebate scheme rewards residential Victorian customers connected to a mains water supply for purchasing water-saving devices and services, thereby reducing their water consumption.

ELIGIBILITY

•  Households who purchased and installed a rainwater tank from 1 st January 2007 are eligible for a rebate of up to $1,000.00.

•  Householders who have already claimed a tank rebate prior to 1 st January 2007 are still eligible for a rebate if they purchase an additional large tank connected to the toilet and / or laundry.

AMOUNT AVAILABLE

The rebate is based on the size of the tank and requires the tank to be connected to toilet and / or laundry facilities as follows;

Tank Capacity	Connected to:	Rebate
2,000 – 4,999 litres	Toilet and / or laundry	$500.00
5,000 litres & above	Toilet or laundry	$900.00
5,000 litres & above	Toilet and laundry	$1,000.00

The existing $150.00 rebate for tanks 600 litres or larger not connected for indoor use will still apply, as will the additional $150.00 tank to toilet connection for new small tanks (600 – 1,999 litres) and existing tanks. These two $150.00 rebates will continue to be credited to your next water bill.

APPLYING FOR A REBATE

You can claim your rebate by downloading and completing the ‘Rebate Claim Form' from www.ourwater.vic.gov.au .

Alternatively, you can call the Department of Sustainability and Environment customer service centre on 136 186 or obtain a form from your local water business, hardware, plumbing supplies or garden retailer.

NORTHWEST VICTORIA

The Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water customers who have purchased and installed a water tank with a minimum capacity of 30,000 litres after 1 st July 2006, may also be eligible for a rebate.
