Rainwater Tank Rebates in New South Wales
The NSW State Government is offering a rebate for the installation of any new rainwater storage system in residential properties.
ELIGIBILITY
The tanks must have a minimum 2,000 litre capacity and be purchased in full and installed between 1st July 2007 and 30th June 2009.
Households not connected to the mains water supply are eligible for a rebate for the purchase of the tank only.
Rainwater tanks installed to comply with BASIX regulations for new homes, major renovations or a pool installation are NOT eligible for a rebate.

The rebate amount is based on the size of the tank and whether the rainwater is plumbed into your toilet or washing machine.
APPLYING FOR A REBATE
You may apply for the rebate after your tank has been installed and any plumbing work is completed.
Sydney Water customers apply through Sydney Water. You can contact them by calling (02) 9952 0576 or visit their website: www.sydneywater.com.au .
Customers of all other NSW water utilities apply through the Department of Environment & Climate Change NSW (DECC).

PLEASE NOTE: it is advisable to check with your local council to find out if they offer rainwater tank rebates in your local area.
